Theatre, 15 Livingston Avenue,
New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is also a
composer and one of the artists
who is sought after around the
world. We are very fortunate to
able to host such an illustrious
musician.
Mr. Khan has performed
regularly at the Carnegie Hall,
Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival
Hall, Kennedy Center, Santury
Hall (First Indian performer),
House of Commons, Theater
Dela ville, Musee Guimet,
ESPLANADE in Singapore,
Victoria Hall in Geneva, Chicago
Symphony Center, Palais beaux
arts, Mozart Hall in Frankfurt,
St. James Palace and the Opera
House in Australia just to name
a few.
He is a recipient of the
UNESCO Award (1970), Padma
Vibhushan (Highest Indian
civilian award) (2001); UNICEFʹs
National Ambassadorship
(1996), The Crystal Award by the
World Economic Forum (1997);
and Honorary Doctorates from
the Universities of York in 1997,
England, Delhi University in
1998, Rabindra Bharati
University in 2007, Kolkata and
the Vishva Bharti (Deshikottam)
in Shantiniketan in 2001. In 1995,
Mr. Khan was awarded the
Gandhi UNESCO Medal in Paris
for his composition ‘Bapukauns’.
In 2003, the maestro received
‘Commander of the Order of
Arts and Letters’ from the
French Government and the
Fukuoka Cultural Grand Prize in
Japan in 2004.
About DRSA
Dakshineswar Ramkrishna Sangha
Adyapeath (“DRSA”) was founded
in India by Sri Annada Thakur in
1921. DRSA is a Hindu religious
organization dedicated to the
worship of Adya Ma (Divine
Mother/Primordial Shakti) and to
the service of humanity based upon
the teachings of the Hindu saint Sri
Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa.
DRSA operates ashrams,
orphanages, schools, and homes for
the elderly, and distributes food and
clothing, and provides medical care
to the needy. At the center of all
this activity devoted to the service of
humanity is a temple dedicated to
the worship of Adya Ma.
DRSA USA was formed in 1996 by
Brahmachari Siddheswar Bhai (a
direct disciple of Sri Annada
Thakur). From a handful of families,
DRSA USA has over 150 members
and over 1,000 followers.
DRSA USA Temple at Somerset,
New Jersey is open daily and offers
priest services at the Temple and
devotee homes. Due to the
continued growth in attendance,
there is a need to move to a facility
which can accommodate larger
congregations with more parking.
Currently, it is necessary to relocate
some of the wellattended Pujas to
other venues to accommodate the
large number of devotees e.g. local
high schools and commercial
auditoriums. The cost to rent these
venues is substantial and could be
avoided if DRSA USA is able to
purchase a larger building. With
Adya Ma’s blessing, we hope to
reach our goal for expansion.
