New York Emmy Nominated
Filmmaker Tirlok Malik’s New Film
“On Golden Years” Had a Long Island Premiere
R
adha Govind Dham New York is on a roll
since it hosted itʹs blockbuster 2nd Annual
Janmashtmi Celebrations!! First came
Janmashtmi on September 5th which saw a turn out
of over 3000 people which was unheard of in the
history of New York on Janmashtmi celebration.
Then a packed house for Radhastmi celebrations 2
weeks later and now more than triple the turnout on
itʹs second Free health Fair compared to the one held
just 3 months before.
Such was the turnout that one of the organizing
doctors had to run to a local pharmacy to get more
supplies for diabetes check up. Such was the turn out
that the Walgreens volunteers
had to call their store for
additional volunteers as back
up.
The Free health camp was
scheduled to begin at 10am
but the crowd started pouring
in at 9am. This was the second
Free Health Fair organized by
Radha Govind Dham NY in
just 3 months. One has to
mention the Community
outreach program of
Walgreens, through which
they provided with free flu
shots and three of their
volunteers to administer it to patients. While
Walgreens offers only 50 free flu shots to community
they ended up providing more than 300 free flu
shots. It was a nothing less than a miracle that while
there was such a shortage of flu shots all over the
city, Walgreens still managed to provide so many
that too for free!!
One has to admire the team work of the volunteers
who were seen selflessly and tirelessly guiding
incoming patients, help filling forms for elderly
patients and guiding patients. One has to mention
here that such was the network of volunteers that the
event by promoted by itʹs team members as far as
Ireland and North Carolina on social media to
spread awareness about the program!!
The turn out far exceeded the expectation with about
600 patients had participated by
the scheduled ending time of
2pm. Most of the participants
had no health insurance and
could not afford to go see a
doctor because of that. The best
reward that the temple received
was the warm hug to the temple
Secretary from an elderly
gentleman, who had recently
moved from India and was sick
for a while with tears in his eyes
he said, “ May God bless you.
Thank you so much for doing
this for me.” Dr. Korrapatti who
was instrumental in organizing
this camp promised in his wrap
up speech to make it even more bigger next time.
“Itʹs our pleasure to be able to serve our
community”, was the one line on each and every
doctorʹs lips.
It was coordinated by Dr. Madhu Korrapati who
happens is also President of Long Island chapter of
AAPI. He was assisted by Mr. & Mrs. Dr. Chiran
Reddy, Dr. Sadhna Gupta, Dr. Sonia Talwar, Dr.
Ankit Mehta, Dr. Vandana Gooi, Dr. Mrs. Jain, Dr.
Mr. & Mrs. Batra. A special thanks to Walgreens
volunteers local Pharmacy manager Josee Laroche,
Sonia Kuriakose and and Vishala Raghunanan. The
doctors also worked tirelessly without taking a break
to check the unbroken chain of patients coming in.
Most of the doctors have had their priliminary
education in India and moved to NY. It is very
interesting to note that while Narendra Modi ji was
addressing the world in UN few miles away little did
he know that a team of Indian American doctors was
doing such a wonderful service to society!!

authentic Hindu knowledge as described by our
